OTHM Post Graduate Diploma

The OTHM Post Graduate Diploma (Level 7) prepares students for management within the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. Continued growth has brought about an increasing need for flexible and skilled managers able to operate at all levels. It is currently being upgraded from the original, 4 unit, and 15 credits per unit qualification to a 5 unit, 20 credits per unit qualification.

Awarding Body: The Organization for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM)

Start Date: January 2011

Course Fee: £4500

Entry Requirements:

Student must have any one of the following:

• OTHM Level 6 Higher Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management;
• Bachelor's degree from a British university in Tourism & Hospitality Management or a related subject;
• Master's degree from an international university, as mapped by UK NARIC to NQF/QCF 6 or above, in Tourism & Hospitality Management or a related subject;
• OTHM may also consider mature students with 10 years or more senior management experience within the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

Progression Options:

Option 1:
Upon passing the original, pre-2011 four unit qualification, students may continue studies at the University of Hertfordshire in Semester B, to gain an M.Sc. in International Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Option 2:
Upon passing the new, 5 units qualification, students may continue studies at London South Bank University (Research Methodology + dissertation), to gain an M.Sc. (January 2011 onwards)

Option 3:
Students may wish to return to industry with the OTHM Post Graduate Diploma, seeking management opportunities or career progression with their employer.

• International Tourism Marketing (includes field trip) (20 credits)
• Human Resources Management in Tourism & Hospitality (20 credits)
• Ethical Dimensions of Tourism (20 credits)
• Leadership & Development (20 credits) - new syllabus launch Jan 2011
